This year has begun as an incredible journey for me. In January while vacationing in St. Augustine with a close friend. I am a writer by trade – Technical and Training materials. In my side life I have nearly a dozen books written on Ham Radio and Hurricane planning – topics of interest but also topics I have lost passion for.
On my trip, my friend, I’ll call her “D”, and I visited the wineries and distilleries in the area. Now – this is something I have done before. But this time, I did it with an interest I have not had before. Thus – My idea of writing about Florida Distilleries, Wineries, and Breweries was born.
This year I plan to introduce several new book titles. Along the way as I do research and find all of these truly amazing spots across Florida, I am also building several new websites (Oh, I am a website developer as well as a Computer Network engineer) that will profile each of these locations.
My first book will be out in the early part of the summer and will focus on the Certified Florida Farm Wineries. So many of these are absolutely amazing. Some are commercial and large with hundreds of acres dedicated to production. Others though – Such as Bunker Hill in Central Florida are unique producing wines using techniques and agriculture often used by the settlers of this country. Ever hear of Dandelion Petal wine?
After the release of the first book, I will be launching the research and work to develop my second book focused on the Muscadine Grape and wines produced with it. In this second book I intend to extend outside of Florida into the Southeast and look at the Muscadine industry throughout the Southeast United States where it has a solid footing for American wines from the South. The Muscadine is such an overlooked fruit and wine – Far superior to European grapes and wines produced from other parts of the world including California in its health benefits and the research for properties being studied for Cancer prevention and Anti-aging properties.
Following these books we will be releasing additional books focused on Florida – From the number of Speakeasies and unique drinking establishments to the growing Spirits industry in Florida producing Florida-unique varieties of Rums, Whiskeys, Bourbons, Aquavia Spirits, and other spirits from unique distilleries.
Florida Certified Farm Wineries
Due out Summer of 2025 – A look at unique wineries located in Florida that hold the state certification for producing wines from Florida Agriculture products.
Muscadine Grapes – The Forgotten Grape and Wine
The Muscadine Grape is the natural grape found all through the Southeastern united states. It has been historically used for wine production in the Southeast for hundreds of years and is considered to be a “Super Food” thanks to the great health benefits it has. Though an amazing grape – It is also a forgotten grape with many wine enthusiasts turning their noses to it often without even tasting it.
